About 9 Alert 9 Kinross-shire & Almond & Earn Community Policing Update – October 2026

Well, October has been and gone, and November has arrived. The clocks have changed, the temperatures have dropped, but there's still plenty going on out there!

Please see below for an update from us in relation to Community Policing across the electoral wards of Kinross-shire and a large portion of Almond and Earn, during the month of October.

Some of our duties get posted about on ‘Police Scotland Tayside’ social media accounts and we also provide reports for our 8 community councils, to include in their meetings which cover incidents / crimes of note and Police activity in the specific areas.

Below is some of our activities in October -

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • Being involved in a joint meeting about a resident of a local’s children’s home in the area, with partners from social work and staff from the care company.
  • Joining the Milnathort Bike Bus.
  • Attending KYTHE youth club to engage with the attendees.
  • Attending at Cleish & Blairadam, Kinross & Fossoway community council meetings.
  • Meeting with representatives from 4 community council areas who are all keen to kickstart the Kinross-shire Community Speedwatch. We set out a timeline and hope to start deploying in early 2027. If you are keen to volunteer, please email me - ben.samson@scotland.police.uk
  • We were part of Operation Moonbeam deployment on 30th and 31st October, which is Police Scotland's annual national operation designed to tackle firework-related violence, anti-social behaviour, and disorder during the Halloween and Bonfire Night period. We assisted in patrols and taking calls in the whole of the Perth & Kinross area, thankfully there were no major incidents and certainly not for Kinross-shire or Almond & Earn…other than some questionable jokes!
  •

    CRIME

  • Assisting response Policing colleagues at a disturbance whereby 1 male was arrested and charged for a number of domestic abuse offences.
  • Taking part in the week of action dedicated to making enquiries into domestic abuse offences and assisting in detecting an offence.
  • Identifying, charging and reporting one male for a theft by shoplifting from Giacopazzi’s in Milnathort.
  • Dealing with a youth assault.
  • Identifying, arresting, charging and reporting one male for a theft by shoplifting and threatening retail workers from Giacopazzi’s in Milnathort.
  • There have been numerous vandalisms to vehicles in the Kinross area, mainly in the town centre and we have been assisting with enquiries into this. A previous neighbourhood alert was issued in relation to this.
  •

    TRAINING

  • PC’s Samson & Duncan attended a training session about County Lines.
  • We also attended a training session based on updates on Police systems.
  •
